The Diamond Annual Writing Award
Dorothy and Walter Diamond are valued and respected founding members of the Offshore Institute. Their individual and collective professional work over the years has assisted in defining the international financial service sector as well as tangibly furthering the overall level of education and ethics within the industry.
In honor of the Diamonds the Offshore Institute's Diamond Writing Award will be awarded at the Offshore Institute’s annual conference.
RULE ONE : AWARDS DEFINITIONS
1. The Diamond Writing Award shall be given to honor outstanding written contributions that stimulate the debate on the offshore international financial service sector. Candidates are to submit written articles based on the theme: "Topics of interest to the professionals working in the international financial service sector".
2. Awards shall be conferred at The Annual Awards Presentation ceremony at the Offshore Institute’s Annual Conference.
RULE TWO : ELIGIBILITY AND AWARD
Original previously unpublished written articles and / or essays with a minimum 5000 and maximum of 10000 will be considered. In addition, to the foregoing, the following must be submitted with the submission. Subject to the rules herein, the winning contribution will be presented a US$ 2000.-- recognition award.
RULE THREE : CONTRIBUTION PROCEDURES and DEADLINES
Contribution should be admitted:
in electronic format by sending it to the Offshore Institute’s mailbox: info@offshoreinstitute.org , and
in hard copy by sending it to the Office of the President:
Rue Verdaine 11, Case Postale 3377, 1211 Geneva 3, Switzerland.
Contributions shall be accepted up to two months before the Offshore Institute’s Annual Meeting that normally will take place in November of each year. Thus, the final deadline for 2002 is scheduled for September 1, 2002.
The Office of the President will confirm the reception of the contribution both by Email and in a letter send by regular mail.
An achievement submitted for The Diamond Writing Award’s consideration may not be withdrawn after the final deadline.
Each author may submit a maximum of three (3) entries for The Diamond Writing Award. However, each submission must be the sole work of the author involved with proper citation to sources used.
RULE FOUR : SUBMISSION, NOMINATIONS and VOTING PROCEDURES
The Offshore Institute becomes the owner of the publishing copyrights of the contributions that are submitted.
All contributions shall be evaluated by the Offshore Financial Intermediary Editorial Board. The Editorial Board will decide at its full unfettered discretion, the winner of the writing award.
The Offshore Institute reserves the right to publish each eligible contribution in the Offshore Financial Intermediary (www.financialintermediary.org).
In exercising its unfettered discretion in choosing a winner, the Editorial Board consider, among other factors, the following criteria:
General relevancy of the contribution to the international financial service sector professional
Content
Readability
Organization
Proper Identification of Sources
In the event of that no submission achieves the level required by the Editorial Board or any dispute concerning eligibility, the Editorial Board reserves the right to withhold the award in general or declare any contribution ineligible.
