There are two grades of membership in the Institute for which an applicant may apply (1) Member (M.O.I.) and (2) Associate (A.O.I). Entry into the Member grade of The Institute is restricted to those who: (a) hold a relevant approved degree or professional qualification, and (b) can show at least six years approved experience in offshore or international finance or financial planning through offshore centres (whether in the public or private sectors). Applicants who satisfy (a) above but not (b) are eligible for admission as Associates of The Institute.
Applicants who do not satisfy either (a) or (b) may apply for status as an Affiliate. While an Affiliate does not constitute part of the membership base and as such may neither vote at any meeting of The Institute nor use initials or any other designation denoting an association with The Institute following his or her name and will not receive a Certificate reflecting membership, an Affiliate in general will enjoy the other benefits of membership available to The Institute's membership base.
Note: All applicants at whatever grade should be proposed and seconded by a Member or Associate of The Institute or, failing that, proposed by a person of standing and repute in the applicant's own jurisdiction, and in every case admission is within the discretion of The Institute, subject to its governing documents. All applicants should provide proof of qualifications claimed. Applications cannot be considered unless accompanied by the due entry fee for membership of The Institute, AND the first annual subscription (see immediately below).
MEMBERSHIP ENTRY FEE AND ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION: The membership entry fee is £120/$190 and the annual subscription is £160/$260. Payments submitted by unsuccessful applicants will be returned in full. The annual subscription covers the period from 1 April to 31 March of the following year. Members who submit their applications during the last six months of the twelve month cycle can prorate their annual subscription for the period. The entry fee is not proratable. The entry fee and annual subscription may be paid by credit card.
